We are two sisters who were looking for a new challenge and a way to make a small difference. Our life experience as moms and new grandparents combined with our passion for design and for babies prepared us for this opportunity. When we learned about bamboo fiber and its many benefits and qualities we fell in love with it. We love the softness and the purity of the fiber, which is perfect for our babies. It was important for us to make safe, sustainable and beautiful clothing and blankets that we could be proud of. We worked hard to put Midori Bamboo together and couldn’t wait to share it with others. As we were trying to come up with a name for our company that had special meaning to us, we came across the word Midori, which in Japanese means, “green”. That was a perfect fit for us. But we needed one more thing, and that was a symbol that would represent us. That was easy. Our mother has passed away and we knew she always loved dragonflies. Whenever we see a dragonfly we think of her without a word being said. So there it was, Midori Bamboo with a dragonfly symbol. That’s us!
Babies will grace us with their presence whether times are good or bad and that is what we based our company on. Babies deserve the best start we can provide for them and for that reason we think a wardrobe and blankets made of natural materials should be the first that wraps a newborn’s sensitive skin as they are the most vulnerable. The decision was made to keep our collection fun with more color, simple and comfortable in design and leave the prints and patterns to someone else. It was also our intention to provide a collection that was not seasonal. Our baby apparel is to be worn any time of the year. We want consumers to know they can buy natural clothing without sacrificing style or substance.
Information shapes our lives in this ever-changing society and consumers want safe, eco-friendly, products that have function, high quality and value. Midori Bamboo is proud that our brand accomplishes that for consumers.
The goal for Midori Bamboo is to remind consumers to live consciously, buy more wisely and try to make a difference. We are all responsible for the impact we leave and the legacy for the ones who follow.
We can’t change the world overnight but we are taking baby steps towards a Greener Tomorrow by using a wonderful product made of bamboo fiber. We strive to build and operate a sustainable company and we promise to stay true to that commitment.
