I highly recommend this DVD, “Love the Earth” by Sesame Workshop, to parents and grandparents alike to start the process of awareness of the planet we live on to our children. The beloved characters Elmo, Zoe, and Baby Bear help to teach our kids how to take care of Mother Earth. They discover beautiful things in nature. They learn how to keep the earth clean by putting garbage where it belongs, how to recycle and reuse things and how to conserve water. Children learn that animals depend on us to keep their world clean and safe. Great lessons are learned along the way as kids see they can help make a difference. This DVD provides many positive messages and can be found at Walmart.

Eco-friendly toys are the best choice for our kids and for the planet. Natural toys serve a purpose because someday our children will inherit the world and the impact we leave can make a difference. The things our children play with should reflect positive values toward the environment, be responsible to the earth’s resources while being assured our children’s toys are safe. Organic toys protect the health of our children and the planet by reducing the overall exposure to toxic chemicals. We should encourage the purchase of earth-friendly toys that are made from sustainable sources. They should be made from organic materials, renewable wood such as beech wood or bamboo, have low-impact or vegetable dyes and minimal packaging. Toys made from recycled or renewable materials are best. Also, fewer batteries in toys, if any, are better. Kid power is always best! Look for toys that are ethically made and manufactured by socially responsible companies. We all share this earth and we all share the responsibility to care for our planet. Make a choice for a Greener Generation to come.
